Yesterday I had a meeting with an early-stage VC to talk about KlickFu and the best ways to move forward. In preparing for the meeting, I was anticipating various questions they might ask–certainly one was, “if you had funding in the bank today, what is the first thing you would do tomorrow morning?”
After considering it for a bit, the answer is clear: the first thing I would do is hire a worldclass user experience designer. (In fact, I am not waiting until we are funded to find a designer, I am looking for one right now.) Of the different positions we could fill at KlickFu, why is it so important to find a UX designer now, as opposed to a(nother) rockstar developer to work on the platform or even the website.
The answer is what we are designing here at KlickFu, which we have not yet divulged publicly, is fundamentally a new type of user experience–a way for users to interact instantly with games and apps on the PC desktop. The key to our success will be designing the overall experience so that using KlickFu is super fun, delightful, and totally intuitive.
So if you know anyone–or if you believe someone you know might know someone–who is a fantastically talented user experience designer, equally comfortable designing a desktop app, a casual game, or a web site, and who would enjoy the challenge of helping create a new type of user experience *almost* from scratch, please let me know… or ask him or her to contact me.
In the meantime, I will keep looking.
