Hi, My name is Mark, this is my blog–welcome! Actually, to be a bit more specific, this my personal blog. I also maintain another blog for my startup, KlickFu (www.klickfu.com).
For my first post, I thought it might be a good idea to talk about (and, maybe more importantly, to think about) why I am writing this blog, i.e., why am I committing to create semi-regular updates relating to more personal issues of my daily life and work, as opposed to those that could be included in the company blog–and why do it now.
There are two reasons mainly, the first is fairly simple and the second requires a bit more explanation:
1. Because Michael Arrington said so.
2. To expand and enhance the opportunities and experiences I have in life.
To be a bit more specific on #1, Michael Arrington, CEO of TechCrunch, spoke recently at Founder Institute, which is an incubator founded and run by Adeo Ressi from TheFunded.com, which I am sure I will talk more about in future updates. Michael A. was one of the mentors who spoke on the topic of Publicity, of which he knows what he speaks, and he said simply (paraphrasing), “All of you who are founders should have your own personal blog in addition to whatever company blog, period.” The main reason was essentially so that if and when others hopefully write and say nice things about your company as your grow, you can thank them and link back to them–they will notice and this will help you expand your relationships with them.
This is great, makes a lot of sense, and relates directly to the second point, which is by publishing my own blog, it will give me the chance to discuss and reach out to various people and projects that are interesting to me (and maybe my company) and potentially form some new relationships. And not only with the principals themselves–my hunch is some of the most interesting and gratifying relationships will come from readers and commenters, which someday I will hopefully have, and which will lead to some interesting and/or cool relationships in my personal and business life.
So there you have it, not exactly a manifesto, although those are two things I hope to accomplish with this blog. I hope in the process I manage to create some content and generate some comments and maybe even a (small) community that is useful to my friends, colleagues, and business partners and maybe to the world at large.
I hope you enjoy this blog as I believe I will enjoy the process of creating and promoting it.

Who is Klick and why does it keep eff-youing me? (I’m joking!)
Great first entry! /thumbs up
Mark! I often ask my self… “wwmad…what would Michael Arrington do”. he’s really the god of the blogsophere. he really brought the point home when he spoke about how useful a personal blog can be… not only for your business but also for you as and individual and like you said, the world at large. Look forward to reading your blog!
